MAXWELL - Donald James Ferguson, 83, of Maxwell, died at his home Monday, April 5, 2004. Don was born August 30, 1920 in Valley Junction, Iowa the son of James and Elsie Eva (Dixon) Ferguson. He was united in marriage to Marion Lenore Lovell on September 5, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. Don graduated from Valley High School in 1941 and served in the US Army Air Corps in Trinidad during World War II. He had worked for 39 years at Armstrong Tire in Des Moines and retired in 1985. Don was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Gnemeth Lodge No. 577 of West Des Moines, a Life member of the Maxwell V.F.W., and a member of the American Legion, Harold Ness Post # 249 of Maxwell. Don was a life-long auto mechanic enthusiast. Don is survived by his wife, Marion Lenore Ferguson of Maxwell; 3 daughters and son-in-law: Kathryn Lenore (Doug) Cross of Prole, Iowa, Donalda Marion (Kenneth) Partington of Elkhart, Iowa, Lorine Rose (Harold) Backous of Stratford, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Amy, Brad, Lisa, Jenny, Clint; 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Dale Ferguson of West Des Moines, Iowa. His parents and a grandson, Ty Smith, preceded him in death.
