Donna Mae Haws, 81, formerly of Nevada. Iowa and most recently a resident of Northridge Village in Ames died on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., February 1, 2020 at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada, Iowa with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at the First United Methodist Church (1036 7th Street) in Nevada following the interment at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Donna was born on a farm near Fernald, Iowa on February 23, 1938 to Lowell and Eva Crosby. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1956 and attended AIB. She worked at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames for 50 years, many of those as Procurement Officer "Supervisor". After retiring in 2011, Donna enjoyed volunteering and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She kept the birds and squirrels well-fed in her back yard. Survivors include her sons Danny (Sharon) Haws of Stillwater, Minnesota and David (Lisa) Haws of Kingsville, Missouri; grandchildren, Claire, Jay, Shannon, and Cameron; sisters, Elaine (Wilbur) Hansen and Pam (Bob) Sweeney and many nephews and nieces. Donna was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan, attending football and basketball games during all kinds of weather. In Donna's last few years she loved having visitors, especially the canine ones, so we think she would be pleased to have memorial contributions be made to the Story County Animal Shelter.
