Donna Jean Swanson, 81 of Colo, died Friday October 22, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center in West Des Moines. Donna was born September 26, 1940, in Jefferson, Iowa the daughter of Marold and Zada (Huffman) Lind. On August 25, 1956, she was united in marriage to Dave Swanson Sr. in Des Moines. Together they owned and operated Swanson Hardware in Colo from 1976 until 2006. In retirement, Donna worked at Rolling Green Village as an Environmental Aide and Activities Assistant. She was a past member of the Clover Leaf Club and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Donna is survived by her children: David (Becky) Swanson Jr. of Colo, Diana (Gil) Meier of Ogden; her grandchildren: Michael Meier, Angela Gearhart, Christy (Marcus) Ancell and April Swanson (fiancé Charles Wheeler); her great-grandchildren, Natalie and Jayden Swanson and Hunter and Fischer Wheeler and Nora and Tate Ancell; and her brother, Gary (Diane) McGuire of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2009, and a great-grandson, Tanner Doran. A visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until noon on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A luncheon will follow the visitation at the funeral home.
