Doris Smith, 76, of Nevada, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Doris was born March 13, 1932 at Corydon, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Wilma (Brown) Hiatt. Doris had worked as and Electronic Assembler laying telegraph and telephone wire along the ocean floors and also as a cook. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion where she enjoyed playing Bingo. While living in California, Doris enjoyed showing people around Disneyland. She also loved going to Flea Markets. Doris is survived by 3 brothers: Larry (Shirley) Hiatt of Nevada, Iowa, Paul Dean Hiatt of Longbranch,, New Jersey, and Roger Marilyn Hiatt of Pittsburg, Missouri. Graveside Memorial Services and inurnment will be 11:30 AM Friday at the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada, Iowa.
