Doris Marie Samson, 106 of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada, Iowa.

Doris was born September 17, 1917, in Colo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Chloe (Myers) Van Sickle. She graduated from Nevada High School and was united in marriage to Keesee Samson on March 30, 1943, in Reno, Nevada. Doris worked for Story County for 37 years, serving as treasurer for 16 of those years.

Doris was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nevada and a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was never one to sit still, she enjoyed baking, canning, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Through her many years she truly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Doris is survived by her sons, Paul (Sandra) Samson of Nevada, Roger (Deborah) Samson of Nevada and Allan (Jeannie) Samson of Loveland, Colorado, her eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Van Samson; two brothers, Joe and Morris Van Sickle and three sisters, Mary Horine, Fern Samson and Inez Van Sickle.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery (1026 1st Street) in Nevada.  Fellowship will follow at the Nevada Senior Center.
