Doris Maxine Williams, 103 of Nevada, died peacefully, Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Doris was born May 24, 1918, in Northwood, Iowa the daughter of Art and Vernie (Cook) Shaffer. She graduated from Colo High School in 1936 and was united in marriage to Elmer "Boss" Williams on December 6, 1937, in Marshalltown. Doris was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church, where she was active in church circle. She was also a member of the William F. Ball Legion Auxiliary and VFW. Together Doris and Boss owned the Bogie Inn (Maid Rite) and the Starlite Lounge & Restaurant in Nevada. They were charter members of Indian Creek Country Club. Doris enjoyed her life, golfing, mushroom hunting, vacationing on the beaches of Florida and fishing at Hickory Grove and in Canada. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her home was always welcoming for visitors. "Life is as you make it", "Age is just another number", and "God takes care of us all", are just a few of her words to live by. Doris is survived by her grandchildren: Luanne Rullestad, Jeff Dooley, Lynette Hall, Mark Dooley and Lisa Bishop; her sons-in-law, Ed Dooley and Richard "Shorty" Rullestad; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her two daughters, Marlene Dooley and Bernadine Rullestad. A visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A graveside service will follow the visitation at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada with Pastor Mike Carey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association – Iowa Chapter. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
