Dorothy Coughenour, 90, of Maxwell, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Dorothy was born May 8, 1926, to Lawrence and Mildred (Flora) Longcor. She graduated from Maxwell High School and was a devoted member of the Brethren Church in Maxwell. Dorothy retired from the Wallace Homestead Book Company after 35 years and in retirement she worked at the Maxwell Public Library. On November 5, 2004, she was united in marriage to Forrest "Frosty" Coughenour in Maxwell. Dorothy enjoyed exercising, quilting, bowling and gardening. She also liked going out to dinner and word search puzzles. Dorothy is survived by many nieces and nephews and many other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frosty; five brothers; and one sister. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 8, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Pastor Tom Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery near Maxwell. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
