Dorothy Jane (Greenfield) Huse, 97 of Nevada, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Dorothy was born March 17, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Carroll and Evelyn (Brightwell) Greenfield. She graduated from Colo High School in 1944 and was united in marriage to Carl Huse Jr. on February 8, 1947, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Nevada. Dorothy worked at R.H. Donnelley Marketing for six years and General Telephone Company for 30 years. She then worked for the Story County Sheriff for 4 ½ years, retiring in 1987.

Dorothy was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church and the Nevada Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her interests included volunteering, especially at the church and the Nevada Elementary School; crocheting, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Jerry) Duey of Clinton; her son, Allan (Kathy) Huse of Sergeant Bluff; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; her sister-in-law, Deloris Huse of Rochester, MN; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, William C. Greenfield; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Greenfield, and Alice Huse; and her brothers-in-law, Arlo, and Norman Huse.

Dorothy's funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Nevada First United Methodist Church (1036 7th Street) in Nevada. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens Cemetery near Nevada.
