Dorothy Mae Pointer died July 21, 2026, at the age of 105 years. She was born January 7, 1921, near Whitten, Iowa to Frank and Addie (Rutledge) Branon.

She attended Chester Country School and Chester Friends Church west of Union, Iowa, where she finished grade school at Warrington Country School. Then she moved near Colo, Iowa and graduated from Colo High School in 1938.

In 1940 she was united in marriage to Glen Pointer of Collins, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Connee L. Doubleday and Roger L. Pointer. She was a 75-year member of the Collins Methodist Church. For over forty years she did volunteer work at Story County Medical Center and was a supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren; Chris Doubleday, Chad Doubleday and John Glen Pointer, four great grandchildren; Ryan, Kaci, Abby and Emily Doubleday, and sister Doris Classon of Story City and her grand dog Stella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, one granddaughter Stacy and two great grandsons Michael and Lucca Doubleday.

Dorothy’s memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2026, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, 422 First Street in Maxwell. Family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. She will be laid to rest privately at the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed at https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/dorothy-pointer-memorial-service
