Doug was born November 28, 1958, in Lakewood, CO, the son of Allen and Phyllis (Smith) Harrison. He graduated from Lakewood High School in Colorado in 1977, then moved to Iowa where he started his 46-year career as a contractor salesman with Munn Lumber in Ames. On February 13, 1993, Doug was united in marriage to Deborah Lee Owen at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada. Doug enjoyed camping, boating, and working on cars, especially his 1984 canary yellow Corvette. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and the Iowa State Cyclones. Doug would often be found with his beloved yellow lab, Daisy at his side. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife, Deb of Nevada; his children: Jason (Tiffany) Hill of Keokuk, Nicole (Harrison) Christensen of Kansas City, MO, Chad (Bobbie) Hill of Fort Madison and Billy (Amy) Harrison of Ames; his grandchildren: Aaron Copic, Dawson Hunt, Harlie Hill, Owen Hill, Ellie Christensen, William Harrison Jr., Claire Christensen and Walker Harrison; and his siblings, Bonnie Storey of Ames, David (Robyn) Harrison of Montrose, CO and Tracie (Louis) Lucero of Montrose, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Michelle Rupel; his stepmom, Mae Harrison; and his stepdad, Jerry Mead.
