Obituary

Elva Louise Denton, 93 of Collins, died Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Elva was born December 23, 1928, in Bondurant, Iowa the daughter of Clarence Arthur and Ida (Yoder) Sargent. On September 30, 1957, she was united in marriage to Bert Richard Denton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Elva worked for the Bondurant-Farrar School District and enjoyed cooking. She especially loved to spend time with her family. Elva is survived by her daughters: Debbie Denton of Phoenix, AZ, Connie (Kevin) Ragan of Bondurant and Cindy (Greg) Smalley of Collins; her grandchildren: Craig Ginther Jr., Kevin Ragan Jr., Nicholas Ragan, Kimberly (James) Pennington and Jessica Smalley; and her great-grandchildren: Kyra and Hailey Wang and Ramsey Ginther. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (422 First Street) in Maxwell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in rural Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals – Camp Sunnyside in memory of Elva.
