Emma May Grover, 81 of Colo, formerly of Fairbanks, Alaska (1992-2017) died Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Emma was born April 14, 1940, in Bennington, Vermont the daughter of Arthur Bernard and Margaret Luella (Mason) Hayes.
Emma was a member a St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colo and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3629 in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was also involved with the Colo Senior Lunch Club, Colo 50 Plus Club, Colo BF&T, World Outlook Club and was a Colo Library Patron.
In her spare time, Emma enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing games on her computer, and playing Yahtzee. She especially loved to spend time with her family and fishing trips with her son Ray.
Emma is survived by her children: Margaret Humphrey of Cottage Grove, WI, Raymond (Sarah) Grover of Colo and Edward Grover (Sharon Ulrich) of Fairbanks, AK; her grandchildren: Sadie (David) Sida Carrillo, Patrick, Ricki, Shyann, Alex, Andrew and Asher Grover, Carl (Rochelle) Humphrey, Krista Hart (Danny Hart) and Keith (Stephanie) Humphrey; and her great-grandchildren: Jael, Zerrick, Ariha, Cheyenne, Sierra, Jillian, Jessica, Sonny, Theodore, Madison, Sean, Kayleigh, and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Victor Humphrey; her sister, Margaret Mason; her brothers, Edward and Arthur Hayes, Jr.; and a cousin, William Mason.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (422 4th Street) in Colo. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church and a breakfast will be served from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the lower level of church. Following the service all are invited to join the family and head to Clear Lake – the Grover's will be gone fishing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colo Public Library or Heartland Senior Services.
