Estella "Teddy" Yazel, 72 of Maxwell, died Thursday, February 25, 2021, in Newton. Teddy was born April 30, 1948, in Des Moines, the daughter of Robert and Roselle Mae (Wynn) Borrall. She graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1966. On May 27, 1994, Teddy was united in marriage to Donald Yazel in Colfax. She had worked the last 25 years for Prairie Meadows, recently retiring in December of 2020. Teddy enjoyed fishing and reading. She also enjoyed shopping and would never pass up a good deal on QVC. Teddy loved to go to Meskwaki Casino and play Bingo and spend time with her dogs, Killer and Josie. Teddy is survived by her son, Matthew Lee (Melissa) Todd of Newton; her daughters, Melissa Ann (Troy) Martin of Mesa, AZ, and Roselle Beverley (Kurt) Van Dam of Kalamazoo, MI; her grandchildren: Robert, Michael, Alexander and Linda Todd, Victoria (Alex) Vajgrt, William Lillo and Remington Lillo, Jessica (Daniel) Koslosky and Jonathan Martin; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Tom (Mary) Borrall of Creston; and her sister, Nadine (Robert) Sutter of Casper, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sisters: Judith Whitlow, Beverly Colleen Meggison and Lois Wilkens. A visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (422 First Street) in Maxwell. A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Cremation will follow the service.
