NEVADA- Ethel Davis, 96, of Nevada, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada 3:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, with the family present 5:00-7:00 PM. Ethel was born July 26, 1911, in rural Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Amelia Ziegler Burley. She graduated from Milford High School in 1929. Ethel was united in marriage to Floyd E. Davis on January 1, 1934 on a farm north of Nevada. Floyd preceded Ethel in death on May 26, 1998. She had helped her husband for over 50 years on their farm near Nevada. Ethel was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers and kids. Ethel is survived by 2 sisters: Alyce Ververs of Phoenix, AZ, and Betty Henderson of Story City, IA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 5 brothers: Virgil, Albert, Joseph, Lowell, Marvin; and 1 sister: Esther Groomes. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Senior Services of Ames. The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
