ANKENY - Ferris Kent Scott, 76, of Ankeny, died November 23, 2005 in San Diego, California.
He was born April 8, 1929 in Cambridge, Iowa, the son of Merrell G. and Melvessa Severson Scott. He was united in marriage to Grace Terhune on April 17, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa. Ferris worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 10 years and for Bridgestone- Firestone Tires for 32 years and retired in 1975. Ferris was the song leader in his church for several years and played lead guitar in the Comebackers, The Hawkeye Travelers, and the Sparks Bands. He enjoyed playing at many charitable events throughout his retirement years.
Ferris is survived by his wife, Grace, of Ankeny, Iowa; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kent and Laura Scott of Wausau, Wisconsin, Steven and Kelley Scott of Rosholt, Wisconsin; two daughters and a son-in-law: Jan and Ray Houck of Corning, Iowa, Nancy Fasse of Ankeny, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother: Lynn Scott of Swaledale, Iowa; and a sister: Zelda Chandler of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Harold, Loren and Lyle; and a sister: Faye Geisler.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery.
