Frances E. Henry, 89, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at Green Hills Retirement Community in Ames surrounded by family. Fran was born October 10, 1932, and grew up in Whiting, Iowa, the only child of Kenneth and Louise Long. Fran met Richard "Dick" Henry shortly before she started attending Iowa State University. Their first date was roller skating with friends. Dick and Fran later married on June 19, 1955 in Nevada, Iowa. Fran spent her life as a dedicated and loving farm wife, mother to her two sons and grandmother to her three grandsons. She was a member of PEO and attended Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. Fran enjoyed music, especially playing the piano, playing bridge with friends, spending winters in Florida with Dick, traveling the world, and watching her grandsons participate in many activities throughout their school years. Fran is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard Henry, of Nevada; her children Michael (Velma) Henry of Sedona, Arizona, and Steve (Laurie) Henry of Nevada; her grandchildren Scott (Jessica) Henry, Kyle (Alyssa) Henry and Eric Henry; and her great-grandson Wyatt Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Louise Long. A private family ceremony will be held with burial following at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
