Fred L. Shaw, Jr., 66, of Colo, Iowa died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Fred was born March 9, 1949 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the son of Fred L. and Barbara (Burgloin) Shaw, Sr. He served in the US Army. On July 23, 1975, Fred was united in marriage to Judy Duart in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Fred was a painter until his retirement. Fred was a member of the American Legion and known to a happy, jolly guy who loved kids. Fred is survived by his wife, Judy of Colo, Iowa; a son: Michael Shaw of Central Falls, Rhode Island; a daughter: Donna Shaw of Cumberland, Rhode Island; 4 grandchildren: Jonathan, Jordan, Savanah, Nathan; 5 brothers: Donald of Rhode Island, Steven of Florida, Bobbie of Florida, David of Florida, Allan of Texas; 3 sisters: Susan of Missouri, Kathy of Missouri, and Patricia of Iowa. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Richard L. Shaw; a brother: Christopher Shaw; and a sister: Donna Shaw. There are no services planned at this time. The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada, Iowa is handling arrangements.
