Gary Lee Minear, 75 of Maxwell, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada following a hard-fought battle with PSP, a neurological disease.

Gary was born November 20, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Theodore L. and Kathleen (Clark) Minear. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1966 and was united in marriage to Dixie Rae Kahler on July 28, 1967, in Cambridge. Gary spent his life working as a mechanic and driving semi.

Gary enjoyed fishing and boating. He loved watching NASCAR and football and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Gary also loved to barbecue and spend time with his friends and family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Dixie; his son, Brian (Christi) Minear of Nevada; his daughter, Jamie (Brian) Frame of Ames; his grandchildren, Cody and Jenn Jones of Ames, Seth Frame and Lauren Parker of Fremont, Nebraska, Cameron Haddock of Nevada and Jonny Minear of Nevada; his great-grandchildren, Sydney Jones and Connor Jones of Ames; his sister, Deb Minear (Paul) Ness of Maxwell; his brother, Theodore R. Minear of Melbourne, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, David Minear.

The celebration of Gary's life will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Maxwell Community Center (84 Main Street) in Maxwell. Burial will be at a later date at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge.
