Obituary

Glendora Mae Mann Clark, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2025. She was born on August 16, 1932 in Nevada, Iowa to Gaylon and Vivian (Kimble) Mann.

In 1951, she graduated from Nevada High School and married Raymond Metheney. They had one child and were later divorced. Glendora married Fred Lande in 1954 and they had two children together. They were later divorced in 1972. She was married two more times to Jim Holveck and Merrill Clark and later divorced.

After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell and Bourns.

In 1961, she was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation and retired in 1999 after 38 years of service.

In 1985, Glendora became a foster parent with Youth and Shelter Services. She fostered 30 teenage girls until she retired in 1998. She loved those girls like they were her own and provided a safe place for them.

Glendora was an avid mystery reader and passed her books on to her daughter and friends who shared her love of books. In her earlier years, she loved to sew and also crocheted beautiful afghans which she gave to each member of her family as well as close friends. She enjoyed baking treats and loved trying new recipes. Pies were her specialty and she made the best pie crust around! She shared these treats with family, friends, neighbors and even the people who serviced her car.

While her daughter Deb was living, they went to the movies nearly every weekend and were very close. She continued her movie going with her best friend, Kay after Deb's passing.

Her health was very important to her. Glendora kept active by walking around Ada Hayden Lake and giving of her time as a volunteer at Heartland Senior Services, Mary Greeley Gift Shop as well as Radiation and Oncology. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered her time there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edwin, sister-in-law Josephine, brother Gordon, sister-in-law Alta, daughter Deb Adams, son-in-law Steven Adams and brother in law, Jim Hunter.

She is survived by her daughters Denise Metheney (Susan Yeager), and Diane (Ralph) Merrill, foster daughter Rose (Chad) Stoline, grandchildren Andrew (Paola) Wiemers, Kate (Jeremiah) Stoneking, Ammon (Erin) Wiemers, Sariah (Dan) Reed, Hannah Zitting, Olivia (Luca) Reid, Justin Metheney Yeager, Heather (Kory) Pence, Amanda (Carlos) Gonzalez, Anthony (Ashley) Merrill, Jeremy (Krystalee) Merrill, Allison (Spenser) Printy, Chase (Fran) Stoline, sister Joyce Hunter and 31 great grandchildren. She was especially close to her niece, Phyllis Mann who was always available to help if needed.
