Gordon Carl George, 70 of Maxwell, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at Story Medical Center in Nevada.
Gordon was born October 14, 1951, in Pomeroy, Iowa the son of Arthur Robert and Myrtle (Cassen) George. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1971-1973. While in the Army, Gordon took many computer classes that led him to a career of a computer programing for Iowa Power. He enjoyed fishing and listening to classic rock and roll music.
Gordon is survived by his significant other, Tangela Karas of Maxwell; his son, Austin (Rebecca) George of Sergeant Bluff, his step-children: Timothy (Janel) Karas of Martensdale, Rodney Karas of Maxwell and Rebecca Karas of Ames; his grandchildren: Andrew, Lucas and Cooper George, Emma and Cheyenne Karas, Paige Love and Riley Karas; and his sister, Marilyn (Ken) Dayton of Pocahontas. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Legion or VFW in memory of Gordon.
