Obituary

Gordon Mann, 86, of Roland, passed away Saturday, September 16 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Gordon Dean Mann was born March 6, 1937, in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Gaylon and Vivian (Kimble) Mann and attended Nevada High School.

On March 7, 1959, Gordon married Alta Corbin in Unionville, Missouri. The couple made their home in Roland, where they raised their family of five children. Gordon worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for thirty years in Ames, retiring in 2001. Gordon also worked part time for Vickers Gas Station for eighteen years in Ames. He then worked at Doc Stop for ten years in Ames.

Gordon enjoyed wood working and going to the casino, enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Gordon is survived by his four children: Gary Mann (fiancé Di Olelson) of Ames, Ed (Jodi) Mann of Jewell, Kevin (Freda) Mann of Maryland and Phyllis Mann of Roland; two sisters: Glendora Clark of Ames and Joyce (Jim) Hunter of Nevada, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Alta; his son Rodney Mann in 1994; his brother Edwin; his parents and great granddaughter, Vivian.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A private family burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Murphy cemetery in rural Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Israel Hospice House.
