Howard Keith Hand, 93 of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Howard was born September 8, 1924, in Rhodes, Iowa the son of Faye Edward and Florence (Bates) Hand. He graduated from Collins High School and attended Iowa State University. On August 3, 1946, Howard was united in marriage to Alice Louise Pearce in Maxwell. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the Maxwell Legion, VFW and the Maxwell Presbyterian Church. Howard worked for the NADC in Ames as an animal care taker and farmed near Maxwell. He enjoyed family reunions and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Howard is survived by his sons: Thomas (Ruby) Hand of Tucson, AZ, Chris (Connie) Hand of Maxwell and Craig (Pat) Hand of Maxwell; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill (Shirley) Hand of Hampton, IA; and his sister, Donna (Glen) Jones of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; six brothers: Dale, Russel, Ronald, Delane, Ted and Richard "Bud"; and a sister, Dorothy Thorton. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, February 18 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 19, also at the funeral home with Pastor Ian McMullen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Presbyterian Church. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
