Obituary

Jacqueline Mittlestadt Renner passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Dec. 19, 2015, after a brief stay at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Jackie was born on April 12, 1958, in Ames, the youngest child of Ed and Nellie Mittlestadt. She grew up in Cambridge and, after high school, studied at the Iowa School of Men's Hairstyling. In 1980, she set off to see the country. She spent time living and working as a master barber and stylist in Florida, Colorado, Virginia, Texas, and finally Louisiana, where she resided for the last decade. When asked how she would like to be remembered, Jackie said, "I gave everything that I had to give until there was nothing left to give." She had a zeal for life and a sense of adventure that were unparalleled. She enjoyed rollerblading and loved being near the ocean. Jackie is survived by her daughter, Tiley Minear; brother, David (Brenda) Mittlestadt; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister (Rita); brother (Tracy); and her son, Deven. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 28 from 5 to 7 pm at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, with memorial services Dec. 29 at 11 am also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Jackie Renner Benefit account at US Bank, or mailed to US Bank, 410 5th Street, Ames, Iowa 50010. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
