Janice Kay Hathaway, 83 of Nevada, died Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.

Janice was born October 4, 1939, in Collins, Iowa the daughter of Oliver and Maxine (Huntrods) Haley. She graduated from Zearing High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Robert Carroll Hathaway on February 14, 1960, at the Zearing Christian Church. Janice loved her time working at Nevada High School as a secretary and touched the lives of numerous students, teachers, and staff throughout her years there.

Janice was a member the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nevada. She enjoyed playing cards and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Family was always at the forefront for Janice, and she enjoyed supporting all her nieces and nephews in their activities. Janice considered everyone family. She was a mother, grandmother, or friend to everyone she knew.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Lori Millard (Bryan Frerichs) of Bristow; her son-in-law, Brad Madison-Hathaway; her siblings: Oliver "Junior" Haley of Maxwell, Karen (Tom) Plunkett of Maxwell, Linda Cheek (Jack) of Ames and Ron (Dianna) Haley of Nevada; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Michael Hathaway-Madison and her sister, Julie Clouser.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at the Evergreen Memory Gardens near Nevada. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to www.rasmussonfh.com and clicking on Janice's photo then tribute wall.
