Janice Lynette Jay, 86 of Colo, died October 20, 2022, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada, Iowa, with her family beside her.
Janice was born on August 12, 1936, in rural Colo, Iowa to Alva and Wilma (Dickinson) Luing. She graduated from Colo High School in 1954. Janice was united in marriage to Duane Allen Jay in Nevada on January 13, 1956. She worked for Travelers Insurance, Bournes and Ames Computer Forms retiring in 2000.
Janice enjoyed the outdoors, especially watching butterflies and enjoying the flowers. She always looked forward to the yearly trips to Branson and Colorado.
Janice is survived by her son Randy (Belinda) Jay of Nevada; daughter Pamela (Frank) Nerness of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Shelby and Nick Nerness, Kurtis (Jeff) Jay and Kimberly Witte and great-grandchildren Addison and Mason Witte and Tobias Jay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Jay, her parents; her brother, Donald Luing; and her sister, Claudia Martin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Hospice in memory of Janice. A visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway) in Nevada. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2022, also at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Colo Cemetery in Colo. A reception will follow the graveside service back at the funeral home.
