Janis Louise Diehl, 88, of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her home in Nevada.

Janis was born April 24, 1937, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of Hal Hefley and Marian Eloise (Hubbell) McKim. She earned her GED and furthered her education earning an associate degree from DMACC. Janis worked at Bournes and retired from Story County Emergency Management. She spent her life with Douglas Vern Diehl until his death in 2018.

Janis enjoyed computers, woodworking and spending time reading.

Janis is survived by her children, Kenneth (Sharon) Litchfield and David (Sara) Litchfield; six grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Claudia) McKim; and her sisters, Lois Allan and Marjorie Morphet. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Diane Litchfield and her son, Mark Litchfield.

Per Janis' wishes, she has been cremated, and a private family burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
