Jarlyn "Jeri" Upchurch, 89 of Colo, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Windsor Manor in Nevada.

Jeri was born March 3, 1934, in Fertile, Iowa, the daughter of James and Harriet (Sprau) Ouverson. She graduated from Fertile High School and was united in marriage to William Wendall Upchurch on June 8, 1952, in Fertile. To this union four children were born: Perry, Lindsay, Kendall and Julie. Bill and Jeri moved to Colo where she was a devoted farm wife, making countless meals and helping where needed.

Jeri was a long-time member of the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo, where she was involved in the BF&T Club. She eventually moved her membership to the Nevada First United Methodist Church when she relocated to Nevada. Jeri was also a member of Eastern Star and served as a 4-H leader for many years for the Country Pioneers. Her involvement in 4-H led to her being inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.

Jeri enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening and bird watching. She had a vast collection of figurines and in her early years she enjoyed square dancing. Many will remember Jeri by the hats that she wore. Jeri absolutely loved her family and especially enjoyed being a grandma.

Jeri is survived by her children: Perry (Nancy) Upchurch of Colo, Lindsay (Cynthia) Upchurch of Des Moines, Kendall (Sue) Upchurch of Zearing and Julie Upchurch of New Mexico; her 10 grandchildren: Amy (Brad) Kohlwes, Jennifer (Andy) Kelly, Tori (Brian) Carsrud, Tonda (Sean) Lonning, Nic (Danell) Upchurch, Katie Eller, Sara (Troy) Clausen, Seth (Melissa) Upchurch, Allie (Tanner) Winterhof and Tia (Michael) Freelove-Kirk; her 23 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack (Verna) Ouverson of Clear Lake; and her sister, Lynne Austin of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2006; her brother, Jay Ouverson; and her twin sisters in infancy.

A private family graveside service and burial will be at the Colo Cemetery in Colo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Foundation in memory of Jeri.
