Jean Elaine Bjustrom, 83, of Boone, formerly of Stratford, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Bethany Life in Story City. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, November 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10 also at the church with Pastor Lindsay Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Jean was born November 29, 1934, in Boone, the daughter of Walter and Lorraine (Vogler) Tingwald. She graduated from Boone High School and Iowa Lutheran Nursing School. Jean worked as a Registered Nurse at Boone County Hospital, Story County Hospital and the Boone Community School District. Jean was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone and she was always eager to greet people at church or anywhere downtown. Jean had served on the board at Athens Woods Estates in Stratford and liked spending summers with her family vacationing and boating at Clear Lake. Jean was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed being outside in the summer tending to her geraniums. Jean is survived by her children: Bret (Julie) Bjustrom of Boone, Bart (Lisa) Bjustrom of Platte City, MO and Jill (Bob) Caruth of Ames; her brother, Darrell (Joni) Tingwald of Boone; her sister, Lois (Dale) Titman of Boone; her grandchildren: Lyndsey, Ryan, Ryley, Nate, Macy, Nick and Blake; and her great-grandchildren: Gavin, Sam, Dylan, Olivia, Will, Ben and Jake. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister-in-law, Ardith Tingwald. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.
