Jennifer Sue Smith, 52 of Story City, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Jenn was born August 17, 1972, in Story City, IA, the daughter of Kenneth and Susan (Buchan) Frette. She graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1991 and worked as a chef for Iowa State University for more than 20 years. Jenn was united in marriage to Darrell Smith on June 15, 2002, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

Jenn was an avid fan of Iowa State and enjoyed cooking. Her family was everything to her and she cherished the time spent with her kids and grandkids.

Jenn is survived by her husband Darrell; her children Lindsey (John) Schatzman, Vanessa Smith, Paighton Smith, Lindsay Nida, Lyza Smith, Sophie Smith and Kyren Smith; her parents Ken and Sue Frette; her grandchildren Ainsleigh Schatzman, River Schatzman, Jordan Hanley and Braxton Hughes; her brothers Dustin (Kelly) Frette and Kyle Frette; and her sister Jody (Brian) Strauss. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Jenn has been cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family to be used to support her children.
