Obituary

Jerry Joe Miller, 72, of Story City, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Jerry was born September 23, 1943, in Cambridge, the son of Addie and Jennie (Klink) Miller. He graduated from Ballard High School in 1961 and was united in marriage to Judy Jacobsen-Miller on May 29, 1964, in Cambridge. Jerry had worked as a machine operator for John Deere and Hach Chemical and as a custodian for Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames. He was a member of Silver Sneakers and Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, landscaping and spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy of 52 years; his son, Jeff (Angie) Miller of Roland; his daughter, Jodi (Dean) Bridges of Huxley; his grandchildren: Jessica (Kyle) Dirks, Jennifer (Stacey) Jennings, Julia Miller and Zachary and Cameron Bridges;his five great-grandchildren; his brothers: George Miller of Des Moines, Robert (Georgia) Miller of Ames and Leo (Ruth Ann) Miller of Ankeny; his sister, Joan Anderson of Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Ruth Wilson, Alice Miller, Faye Hendricks and Roger Miller. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 8 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Interment will be 1 p.m. at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Heart Foundation. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
