Joan Arlene Weatherman, 86 of Cambridge, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Joan was born July 31, 1938, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of John Winfred and Alma Lewina (Bauge) Severeid. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1956 and attended secretarial school at AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. On January 25, 1957, Joan was united in marriage to Jerald "Jerry" Francis Weatherman at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge. She spent her life as a homemaker, raising her family. Joan was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was an associate member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. Joan was involved with a host of activities, including Ladies Aid, bake sales, choir, church treasurer and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Joan loyally attended her children and grandchildren's sports, music events and plays. More recently, she enjoyed trying out restaurants and playing cards with church friends, feeding the birds, and keeping the squirrels at bay. After retirement, Jerry and Joan spent many years wintering in Weslaco, TX, enjoying time with friends playing cards and attending music "jams". She thought the world of Jerry and missed him dearly after his death.

Joan is survived by her children, Daniel (Christine) Weatherman of Robbinsdale, MN, Connie Harper of Cambridge and Steven Weatherman of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren, Joshua (Deanna) Harper, Sara (Allen) Mannes and Alexander Weatherman (Brenda Humphries); her great-grandchildren, Ezra Mannes and another great-grandson due in August; and her sister, Mary Severeid of Lakewood, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2016; and her brother, Reece Severeid.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private family burial will be at Palestine Cemetery near Huxley.

Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Fire Department in memory of Joan.
