Obituary

Catherine "JoAnn" Meusburger, age 85, of Maxwell, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 27, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, JoAnn was the cherished daughter of Harry Paul and Catherine Jo (Glass) Richardson.

JoAnn graduated from St. Joseph Academy, establishing a strong foundation for her lifelong commitment to faith and family. On April 30, 1957, she married the love of her life, George "Pud" Meusburger, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines. Together, they built a beautiful family and a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.

Throughout her professional life, JoAnn contributed her skills to Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, Iowa Heart and the Mike Lewis Law Firm in Cambridge. She also brought her generosity and spirit to the Iowa State Fair, working at the Cattle Café and sharing her love for good food and community. JoAnn also served her community cooking for Heartland Senior Citizens for seven years. She was known for telling her bold and not so bold jokes and would always make a birthday or anniversary special with a homemade cake for every senior that would attend.

JoAnn was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart for over 52 years. Her faith was a guiding light, and she found joy in serving her church and community. Her passion for cooking led her to publish her own cookbook, and she was featured in Our Iowa Magazine for her abilities. Her cooking touched the lives of many who shared her love of home-cooked meals. JoAnn's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family.

JoAnn's greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her children: Cindy (David) Griffith, Chris (Bob) Pritchard, Cathy Venteicher, Kenny (Lisa) Meusburger, Candy (Tim) Miller, and Mary (Tim) De Costa; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren (2 more on the way); and countless others who lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Jo". Her love and guidance will forever be remembered by those whose lives she shaped.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George "Pud" Meusburger; her parents, Harry and Catherine Richardson; and her brothers, Robert, Larry, and Johnny Richardson.
