Obituary

JoAnn Moody, age 80, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Windsor Manor in Nevada. Born at home near Mingo on December 13, 1945, JoAnn was the cherished daughter of Gale and Margaret (Winslow) Campbell. She was a proud graduate of Nevada High School, where her journey of friendship and community began.

On April 18, 1964, JoAnn united in marriage with Harlan "Butch" Moody in Nevada, beginning a loving partnership that would last more than five decades. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and adventure.

JoAnn's early career included working at Starbuck's in Nevada, but she found her professional home at Hach Chemical, where she served as a purchasing agent for more than 30 years until her retirement. In her later years, JoAnn enjoyed working at Center Grove Orchard, where she found joy in sharing smiles with friends and customers alike.

Faith and service were central to JoAnn's life. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart and dedicated herself to her Cambridge community through the Legion Auxiliary, serving on the park board, and delivering Meals on Wheels. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives.

JoAnn and Butch shared a passion for travel, creating cherished memories in Mexico with her sister Jean and brother-in-law Joe, as well as adventures in Jamaica and Hawaii. Their lighthearted motto, "what happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico," captured their zest for life. The couple also spent many winters enjoying the warmth of Mesa, Arizona.

Family was always at the heart of JoAnn's world. She never missed a sporting event or activity involving her grandchildren, cheering them on with unwavering pride and love.

JoAnn is survived by her loving sons: Bruce (Brenda) Moody of Cambridge, Brian (Maggie) Moody of Sheldahl, and Todd (DeAnn) Moody of Cambridge. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jaden (Aanna) Moody of Ankeny, Jenna (Brock) Hadacheck of Slater, Austin (Ben) Hayford-Moody of Overland Park, KS, Mitch (Justin) O'Connor-Moody of Minnetrista, MN, Drake (Kelsey) Reitano of Ankeny, Samuel Reitano of Ames, Easton Moody (fiancée Maddie Sullivan) of Slater, and Jacob Moody; as well as her great-grandchildren: Connor Jeter, Rhea Hayford-Moody, and Lachlan O-Connor-Moody.

She is also survived by her siblings: Francis (Carolyn) Campbell of Newton, Kaye (Mike) Byers of Winfield, MO, Michael (Charlotte) Campbell of Slater, and Jean (Joe) Rumbaugh of Ankeny.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harlan "Butch" Moody in 2016; her sister, Susanne Campbell; and her brother, Jim Campbell.
