John David Christain, 65 of Maxwell, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his home near Maxwell.

John was born December 9, 1957, in Boone, Iowa the son of Russell William and Ruth (Mercer) Christain. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1977 and worked for Elder Construction and JKT Construction. John was married to Judy McDaniel. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews. John would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.

John is survived by his daughter, Meagan Christain of New Mexico; his grandson, Brady James Harris of New Mexico; his sisters, Beverly Newmire of Des Moines and Sondra "Sandy" Lyons of Boone; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Bill Christain.

A celebration of John's life will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Maxwell Community Center (84 Main Street) in Maxwell. A private burial will be at the Collins Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of John.
