John Joseph Sieve, 71 of Boone, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
John was born December 27, 1948, in Carroll, Iowa the son of Duane and Mary (Klocke) Sieve. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Marines Corps serving until his honorable discharge in 1971. John worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 31 ½ years, retiring in 2003. On December 9, 2017, John was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Carter in Boone.
John was a member of the Marine Corps League and the VFW in Boone. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and woodworking. He especially loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra of Boone; his son, Matthew (Tessa) Sieve of Boone; his daughter, Dana Sieve of Boone; his grandchildren: Michael Books, Shelby Books, Jackson Sieve, Miles Sieve and Charlotte Sieve; his brothers: Joe (Amber) Sieve of Cedar Bluff, NE and Loren Sieve of Fremont, NE; and his sister, Lisa (Jerry) Jacquart of Fremont, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 28, at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery near Van Meter.
