John M Stowe, born June 22,1936 at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles H Stowe and Marcine Crystal (Sydnes) Stowe passed on October 24, 2024, at the age of 88 years while at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

John was a very caring person, loved his family (especially wife Esther), his country and Chevrolet cars. He was very proud of his Service in the Marines 1953-1956 when he served during the Korean War. There is nothing he would not do for his Family and Friends. John was an organ donor and donated anything that would help others. After donation, Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home oversaw the cremation. We would like to thank Justin Rasmusson for all his help during this time. Organ donation was important to him, and he would ask that others consider it also.

John and Esther were married December 5, 1957, in Arkansas. They had 3 children, 3 grandchildren and 5 great granddaughters.

John came from a large family of 11 children, his 7 brothers and 3 sisters who he loved dearly. All brothers and 2 sisters passed, leaving Cindy Oberman as the remaining sibling of Charles and Marcine Stowe.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, 7 brothers and 2 sisters, and grandson, Brandon Clawson.

John is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years Esther Stowe, daughter Deb (Kevin) Kleppe, sons Bryan Stowe (Husie Holmes) and Bill Stowe, granddaughters Nicole (Aaron) Larson, April (Kurt) Estrem, great granddaughters Taylor (Cade) Wilson, Maggie Larson, Kasey Larson (who he shared a birthdate with), Aubrey Estrem and Hailey Estrem.

A celebration of John's life will be held later. Those wishing to make a donation, please do this at your local Legion. John was a member of the Legion in Slater, Iowa, a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of AMVETS. If you would like to do something for John, make sure you vote. He loved his country, something we should not take for granted.
