Joseph "Joe" Leo Soy, 70 of Pilot Mound, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021, while enjoying his cabin on Big Wall Lake. Joe was born December 27, 1950, in Ames, Iowa the son of William E. Soy and Helen Marie Roy. He graduated from Ames High School in 1969. Joe worked for Manatt's, Sonoco and retired from Patterson Logistics in 2016. Joe loved to be outdoors, whether it be for duck hunting, bird watching or doing yardwork. He would often be found enjoying the simple things in life at his cabin on Big Wall Lake. Joe is survived by his children: Heather (Jay) Bedingfield of Nevada, J.D. (Jordan) Soy of Montour; his long-time friend, Diane Fisher of Pilot Mound; his grandchildren: Ben, Ryan and Logan; his fur grandchildren: Reuben, Teegan and Cece; his beloved Rottweiler, Raja; his brother, Bill (Carol) Soy of Ames; his sisters: Doris Reese of Des Moines, Elsie Baden of Des Moines, Pat (Cliff) Lieske of St. Paul, MN and Jeanne Miller of Estero, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Delores Davis. A celebration of Joe's life will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, October 8 at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada.
