Obituary

Joyce M. Swanson, 92 of Nevada, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Joyce was born November 23, 1929, in Nevada, Iowa the daughter of Orville Eugene and Julia (Sorem) Corbin. On December 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roger Bursell Swanson in Omaha, Nebraska. Joyce worked for Donnelly Marketing in Nevada and was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church, serving in Church Circle. In her early years, she enjoyed dancing and skating. Joyce also enjoyed baking bread and playing cribbage. Joyce is survived by her sons, Terry Swanson (Sharon Weber) of Sioux Falls, SD, Mike Swanson (Cathy Carsrud) of Nevada and John (Sandy) Swanson of Nevada; her daughter, Kathy (Gerry) Smith of Kalispell, MT; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her special friend, Kay Rierson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Gene Corbin, OD Corbin, twin sister, Joan Jelden, Virgil Corbin and Darlene Brekke; along with several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. The family requests those attending to wear a face covering. Private family burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Story County Senior Care in Nevada or Suncrest Hospice.
