Joyce Mae (Small) Young , 77 of Colo, Iowa died on Friday February 19th at the Zearing Healthcare Center where she was taken care of by the staff for 3 years and 5 months. Joyce was born in Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on May 14, 1944. She went to school in North Polk where she was not able to complete high school. She grew up in Sheldahl, Iowa with her parents Clarence and Waneta Small. While growing up she enjoyed hanging out with friends in a small town. She soon met Bill young in Sheldahl, Iowa, then got married in 1963. Joyce and Bill have been married for 58 years and 9 days before she passed away. They got married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Then soon after they moved to Nevada, Iowa after having their first born in 1964. Then I also had their second child in 1966. Raised a family in this town. Joyce enjoyed being a stay at home mom. Joyce enjoyed her grandkids, going to bingo in several Rural towns. Joyce loved going to Mesquaki Casino to play bingo. There was not a day that went by that she did not help someone in need. She cared about her grandkids and great grandkids. Family always meant the world to her, especially being around family and having gatherings with family. She proceeds in death with her parents Clearence and Waneta Small, Her brother Jack Small. She is survived by her husband William Young, two sisters Janis Hamilton Zearing, Ia and Marylyn Burkeybile of Trenton, Mo. Her two daughters Lori (Brian) Baker of Ames and Lisa (Neil) Arends of Colo. Grandkids Brian Baker of Ames. Brandin Baker of Nevada. Nina Arends of Ames, Christopher (Selina) Branyord. Great Grandkids Elizabeth Lewis, Joseph Baker, Alexander Baker, Natalia Baker, Renesmae Crabtree, and one due late March Joyce Darlynn. There will be no service at this time.
