Judy Ann
Morrison
July 15, 1939 – January 12, 2023
Judy Ann Morrison, 83 of Collins, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.
Judy was born July 15, 1939, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Dorothy (Jacobs) Keltner. Judy started working very young babysitting her cousins. She always wanted to have her own family. That opportunity would happen on April 15, 1962, when she was united in marriage to Rex Raymond Morrison in Princeton, Missouri. They were blessed with two children, Brenda in 1964 and Bradley in 1966. Judy worked for Donnelly Marketing and Bourne's. She and Rex also ran the Quality Mini-Mart and owned Twin Anchors Restaurant in Colo.
After the sale of the restaurant Judy was able to pursue other pleasures, such as being an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and her cucumbers led her to become known to many as "The Pickle Lady". She was able to provide babysitting for her grandson Derek which was one of her greatest joys. She was a collector of many items including Beanie Babies, Wexford Crystal, silver commemorative spoons, wind chimes, and heart shaped jewelry. But for Judy, it was the hunt for these items that inspired her! She enjoyed going to garage sales and looking for bargains. After watching Bob Ross on TV, she started painting oil paintings on her own. There were many fishing trips to Battle Lake, Minnesota, and other events such as hunting deer in Iowa that she took part in. She enjoyed traveling to places such as, Disney World in Orlando, Alaska, Hawaii, England, and Australia. Judy loved her pets! She had several cats and dogs that received a lot of pampering from her. While she was able, she would take her four-wheeler with a dog and cat in tow and in the mornings go feed the goldfish in her ponds.
Judy is survived by her husband, Rex; her son, Bradley Morrison of Collins; her daughter, Brenda (Roger) Hansen of Collins; her sister, Bonnie (Jim) Hines of Batavia, Illinois; her grandson, Derek Morrison of Urbandale; her inherited grandchildren, Raychelle (Jason) Thelen of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Rebekah (Bart) VerMulm of Hudson, South Dakota; six inherited great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law Mary Ann Peavy-Webb of Ankeny; a nephew, nieces, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Russ Keltner and son-in-law Stephen Merk.
A celebration of Judy's life will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Burial will be at a later date at the Collins Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
