Judy Sesker, 80 of Maxwell, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was born January 11, 1944, in State Center, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Darlene (Dodd) Stevens. She graduated from Collins High School in 1962 and attended Ellsworth Community College. Judy was united in marriage to Bruce Sesker on January 25, 1964, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. This year, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Judy had worked for Barrett's Grocery Store in Collins and Wright Realty in Collins.
Judy was a devoted and active member of the Collins United Methodist Church. She enjoyed meeting with her study club and monthly noon lunch group. Judy was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and a huge supporter of Collins-Maxwell Spartan Softball. Together, Judy and Bruce took many trips on their Goldwing and spent the last 15 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona. On Sunday evenings, they enjoyed Jack's frozen pizza at home (with some extra cheese).
Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bruce of Maxwell; her son Jeff (Susan) Sesker of Lee's Summit, MO; her daughter Laurie (Marty) Coughenour of Maxwell; her grandchildren Michael (Annie) Sesker, Patrick (Abby) Sesker, Elizabeth (Will) Stouffer, Kelsie (Cody) Smith, Megan (Zachary) Pelz and Emily Coughenour (Eliza Moran); her great-grandchildren Trevyn, Parker and Hadley; her brother Rod Stevens of Johnston; her sister Darla (Mark) Carver of Collins; and her brother and sister-in-law Wayne (Sherrie) Sesker of Forest City.
Preceding Judy in death are her parents; her sister-in-law Becky Stevens; and her father and mother-in-law Bayard and Lu Sesker.
A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Collins United Methodist Church (225 3rd Avenue) in Collins. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, also at the church with Pastors Amanda Gordon and Nikki Ross-Bishop officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, to be donated to the Collins-Maxwell Spartans Softball.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare workers at Mary Greeley Medical Center for the great care that Judy received.
