Julie Marie Berger, 64 of Boone, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Julie was born May 17, 1958, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Allan and Mary (McDowell) Griffin. She graduated from Ames High School in 1977 and was united in marriage to Hanno Christian Berger on May 9, 1980, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Julie worked many years as a home health aide. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Julie also loved to listen to country music and attended many concerts. She was blessed to go on many vacations with her husband and daughter. Her favorite place was Colorado and vacationed there many times over the years.

Julie always had a kind word for her family and all her friends on Facebook. She loved to give flowers for birthdays and holidays. She watched a lot of Food Network and HGTV but fell asleep watching movies. She always had country radio on in her car and loved Brooks and Dunn and Dierks Bentley (but would sigh when Luke Bryan came on). She gave generously to the Food Bank, the American Cancer Society, and veterans charities.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Alice Berger of Boone; her mother, Mary Jo Mount of Waterloo; her sisters: Stephanie (Jerry) Sayre of Nevada, Sue (Brad) Griffin-Wendel of St. Croix Falls, WI and Connie (Dan) Swatek of Evansdale; and her beloved Bichon, Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

A celebration of her life will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada.
