Obituary

Karen Klopping, 83 of Nevada, died Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames surrounded by family. Karen was born April 12, 1938, in Ames, the daughter of Clay "Pete" and Evelyn Taylor. She graduated from Fernald High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Klopping on June 9, 1957, in Nevada. Karen worked many years for the Nevada School District starting out in the lunch program and eventually retiring from the office of the Superintendent. Karen was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She will be fondly remembered for her love of traveling, cooking and especially her passion for shopping and keeping a clean and tidy home. She especially enjoyed spending winters in Naples, Florida for 15 years entertaining family and friends. Karen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bob of Nevada; her daughters, Lynne (Kim) Wilkinson of Nevada and Jill (Todd) Otto of Nevada; her grandchildren: Kory (Erin) Wilkinson, Kacie (Chris) Marich, Taylor Otto and Braydon Otto; her great-grandchildren: Lexi, Zack and Lily Wilkinson and Ada, Brynn and Norah Marich; and her brother, Craig (Carolyn) Taylor of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Chapel at Bethany Life (212 Lafayette Avenue) in Story City. Family will greet friends at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Face coverings will be required. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to www.rasmussonfh.com, clicking on Karen's photo, then tribute wall. Burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church or Bethany Life in memory of Karen. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
