Karin
Lynch
Nov 10, 1941 — Jul 7, 2026
Karin Lynch, age 84, passed away on July 7, 2026, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa. Karin was born on November 10, 1941, in Darmstadt, Germany, and throughout her life, she will be remembered for her kindness and warm and generous spirit.
Karin’s journey began in Germany, where she not only graduated from high school but also devoted herself to her passion for the culinary arts. She served an apprenticeship as a chef in numerous restaurants in her homeland, where she developed exceptional skills and a deep love for sharing the joy of food with others.
Karin met the love of her life, Floyd “Jim” Lynch in Germany while he served in the military. Karin chose to follow her heart, moving to the United States to build a new life by Jim’s side. They were married in San Antonio, Texas, on October 8, 1967—a union filled with love and unwavering support.
Karin’s life with Jim was one of both devotion and exciting change. As Jim continued his military service, the couple made homes in Texas, Nebraska, Germany, and Florida. When Jim was reassigned to Thailand, Karin found comfort and companionship staying in Nevada with Jim’s parents. Through it all, her loyalty to her husband and openness to new experiences was the bedrock of their life together.
Her dedication to her craft led her to become a respected chef who ran numerous kitchens and bars throughout the years. Notably, when the Nevada American Legion Post moved to their new location, Karin was entrusted with being in charge—a testament to the confidence others placed in her leadership, talent, and work ethic.
In her earlier years, Karin enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was an avid reader that found joy in a good book or finishing a crossword puzzle or word search. She also loved BINGO and was always one of the "luckiest" players out there. Karin had a very generous nature as she regularly supported numerous charities and organizations; especially those helping animals.
Karin is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Lynch; her devoted sister, Irene Potter and numerous extended family members back in Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister, whom she held dear in her heart.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Nevada American Legion Post - day and times are pending. Karin will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be shared online with the family at www.rasmussonfh.com.
