Obituary

Kathryn Margaret Huffaker, 86, of Colo, Iowa died Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa. Kathryn was born November 15, 1934, in Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Frances Alford. She worked in the insurance industry. Kathryn was united in marriage to Virgil Baker, in 1951, Virgil preceded Kathryn in death in 1969. In 1971, she married Max Huffaker. She loved her family, children, and grandchildren. Watching hummingbirds, gardening, crocheting, and dancing in the kitchen were some of the other things that Katy enjoyed. Kathryn is survived by five sons: Donald (Patricia) Baker of Des Moines, Iowa, Wayne Baker of Victor, Iowa, Larry (Penny) Baker of Van Alstyne, Texas, Edward (Paula) Baker of Des Moines, Iowa, and Max (Felicia) Huffaker, Jr of Brooklyn, Iowa; four daughters: Virginia Jones (fiancé, Kent Kuebler) of Perry, Iowa, Anna Clark of Denison, Texas, Melissa Huffaker of Brooklyn, Iowa and Beverly Huffaker of Colo, Iowa; thirty grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; and several brothers and sisters. A joint memorial service for Kathryn and her daughter, Anna Clark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.
