AMES-Dr. Kenneth E. Bryant, 84, of Ames, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames after a short battle with cancer. Kenneth was born August 22, 1921 at Story County, Iowa, the son of Verle and Mildred Bryant. He graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1939 and received Degrees from Upper Iowa University, University of Northern Iowa and the University of Mississippi. He married Fern Wengert December 22, 1946 at State Center, Iowa. He was a P-51 pilot in World War II. He retired from the Air Force in 1966. He retired from the Mississippi State Board of Health in 1983. Survivors are his wife, Fern; a daughter, Kim (Ed) Freymiller of Colorado; and a son, The Rev. Kent Bryant, of South Dakota; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Bill Bryant, of Florida and a sister, Mary Ehlers, of Wisconsin. His parents and a brother, Harold Bryant, preceded him in death. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 10th, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Inurnment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural State Center, Iowa. Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory in Nevada is handling arrangements.
