Kenneth "Ken" Paul Johnson, 91, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away at his home on April 1, 2022. Ken was born December 8, 1930, the son of Gunnard Erland and Esther Eldora (Olson) Johnson. He graduated from Dana High School in 1948. Ken was united in marriage to Judith Anderson on February 25, 1961, in the Elfsborg Swedish Lutheran Church at Pomeroy, Iowa. Ken had farmed with his father and brothers in Greene County and worked at the Coast-to-Coast Store in Fort Dodge before moving to Nevada, Iowa when the Federal Animal Disease Lab opened in Ames, becoming one of the first employees in 1961. Ken was awarded achievements for his work in Brucellosis eradication. After retirement, Ken needed to stay busy and took work at Automatic Systems for 9 years. From 1962, he owned his own Janitorial Service and cleaned in the evenings. Ken was a member of the Nevada Kiwanis Club; the Memorial Lutheran Church where he served on the Property Team, Church Council, taught Sunday School, and maintained the boilers in the church. He was an avid Cyclone fan and enjoyed watching many games over the years. He was fond of his pet dogs and cats. He had a deep love for his family and grandchildren. Ken is survived by his wife: Judith "Judy" Johnson of Nevada; two sons: Doug Johnson of Ames, David (Anna) Johnson of Delafield, Wisconsin; three daughters: DeAnn (Tim) Bennett of Ames, Debbie (John) Haywood of Ames, Denise (Simon) Donovan of Santa Clara, California; ten grandchildren: Lydia Johnson, Amy Johnson, Alex Bennett, Austin Bennett, Meghan Bennett, Stephen (Elizabeth) Haywood, Emily (Joe) Heintz, Genevieve Johnson, Cara Johnson and Collin Johnson ; one great-grandchild, Graham Heintz; and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Milton, in infancy, Leonard, Leroy, Ronald; and his sister: Ardis Kinsman. Visitation will be 2-4 PM, Saturday, April 9th. at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa. Memorial Services will be at 1:30 PM, Sunday, April 10th. at Memorial Lutheran Church.
