Obituary

Kenneth "Bryce" Kinsey, 82 passed away December 29th in Rochester, MN.

Bryce was born in Nevada, Iowa to Kenneth and Harriette Kinsey. He graduated from Nevada High School and Drake University, with a PharmD.

Bryce married Gail Hebig, they raised two daughters together and later divorced.

Bryce spent his career as a Pharmacist at St. Mary's Hospital/Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN making many lifelong friends. He retired after 43 years of service and continued to stay in touch with other retired pharmacists through monthly coffee meetings (aka ROMEO).

Alongside his years of service at Mayo, Bryce was an avid traveler. His love for traveling started in the summer of 1965 with a 14-week backpack trip across Europe with his lifelong buddy Warren. Then, between 2008 and 2020 he continued this love and traveled across numerous countries, always seeking unique architecture, exotic wildlife and sacred sites. Some of the places he wandered across include Peru, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Singapore, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, China, Australia and Dubai. Tibet being the one place he wished he would have made it to.

Perhaps the largest fan the Drake Relays has ever seen, Bryce was certain to be in the stands every year, rain or shine (but mainly rain). A jokester through and through, Bryce was always playing silly pranks, whether in the pharmacy or with friends and family.

Bryce is survived by his two daughters, Laurel Bot (Mark) and grandsons Riley and Carter of Maple Grove, MN; Emily Anderson (Brad) and grandson Bryce and granddaughter Ellie of Bloomington, MN as well as many cousins, friends who were regarded as family and numerous other friends across the world.

We will honor Bryce on Friday, January 3rd at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10am with a short service to follow at 11am. Interment will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the Funeral Home.

Bryce will be remembered as a kind and genuine person who loved life and truly appreciated all those he encountered. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic, Poverello Foundation or to the American Lung Association.
