Kenneth Manard Spencer, 83 of Collins, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at State Center Specialty Care in State Center.

Ken was born August 26, 1941, in Villisca, IA, the son of David Manard and Hollis Aleene (Nowels) Spencer. He graduated from College Springs High School in 1959 and was united in marriage to Janet Jean Schafer on November 29, 1963, in Corning, IA. Ken furthered his education at Iowa State University, earning his bachelor's degree in Distributive Studies. He retired from the Iowa DOT as a lab tech after more than 40 years of employment.

Ken was a former Boy Scout leader, member of the Maxwell Lions Club and a member of the Isak Walton League in Ames. He loved the outdoors and spent his free time hunting, fishing or camping. Ken enjoyed woodworking and attending flea markets and auctions looking for a good deal.

Ken is survived by his wife Janet of Collins; his sons Shane Spencer of Collins and Del Spencer (Maria Bujak) of Collins; his grandchildren David (Chelsea) Spencer, Kayla Spencer, Devin Spencer and Jayden Spencer; 9 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and his sister Donna Spencer of College Springs, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Darrell Spencer.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center, IA.
