Obituary

Kevin Jamison, born on May 7, 1970, in Marshalltown, IA, was the beloved son of Darrell Dean and Arlene Frances (Roche) Jamison. He passed away on March 21, 2025, in Ames at the age of 54, following a cancer diagnosis. Kevin left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends.

Kevin's journey began at Colo-NESCO High School, where he graduated in 1988. He furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University, which set the stage for his professional career selling insurance for small businesses. His work was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his clients and his innate ability to connect with people. Kevin never met a stranger.

On August 24, 2002, Kevin married Virginia "Ginny" Ackerman in Ames, IA. Their union was a testament to the deep love and bond they shared, and together they built a beautiful life in Colo, IA. Kevin and Ginny were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Hannah and Ivy, whom Kevin adored and supported in all their endeavors. He coached their sports teams and took immense pride in helping them with their cattle and pigs for 4-H and FFA shows at the Story County Fair and the Iowa State Fair.

Kevin was an avid sports fan, with a passion that spanned numerous teams and events. His love for the Iowa Hawkeyes started when he attended his first football game with his sister Cathy at age 10. Many years were spent as a season ticket holder and tailgating where he earned the nickname the "Hawk in the Hat". In addition to football, he supported Iowa basketball, wrestling, and baseball. He also loved supporting the Minnesota Vikings, LA Dodgers, Philadelphia 76ers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tiger Woods, NASCAR (Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Jr.), WWE, especially Cody Rhodes, as well as following Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Kevin's love for sports was boundless and the memories that were made with friends and family are priceless. Kevin was proudly inducted into the Colo-NESCO Hall of Fame in February of 2020.

One of Kevin's greatest joys was attending KISS concerts, having attended 38 throughout his life. His love for music and live performances reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life.

Kevin's family was his anchor, and he is survived by his loving wife Ginny of Colo; his cherished daughters Hannah and Ivy Jamison, both of Colo; his brother Bob (Joanie) Jamison of Colo; his sisters Cathy (Brian) Williams of Wallingford and Ruth (Mike) Wagner of Marion, along with their children, Jenny and John; his mother-in-law Mary Lou Ackerman of Ames; his nephews Ethan (Cassandra) Jamison of Blackwood, NJ, Zach Jamison (Carolyn King) of Keota, and Jeremy (Mackenzie) Kostelecky of Mason City; his nieces Kelby (Brandon) Palmer of Maryville, MO, and Sidney (Don) Brommel of New Virginia; his sister-in-law Vallery (David) Eisenmann of Slater; along with a host of tailgating friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces & nephews, and his classmates. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry Jamison.
